A Guide to Nursing-Friendly Spaces Around Charleston

0

As a nursing mom, you should 100% feel comfortable nursing in whatever space you’d like, but sometimes you want or need some privacy! I feel the exact same way.

I am always on the hunt for restaurants and shops that I know have a dedicated space for me to sit and nurse without worrying about covering up. I appreciate being able to give my baby a meal without distraction!

The App for Nursing Pods

Before reading any further, RUN to download the Mamava app! This app is a complete game-changer! Not only does it show you spaces that have the Mamava pods (nursing-friendly pods in public that will unlock with your phone), but the app will also give you the closest nursing space to you. Plus, if you find a spot that is not on the app, you can add it to help out other moms!

Check out these nursing-friendly spots while you’re out and about around Charleston!

  • Mamava Pod at Joseph P. Riley Jr. Park

Check out a Riverdogs game AND have a private space to feed your babe. Sounds like the perfect summer night!

  • South Carolina Aquarium

This space is located right across from the gift shop inside the aquarium. It has a rocking chair, changing area, and dimmable lights.

  • Under the Almond Trees Boutique

Of course my favorite children’s boutique downtown has a dedicated nursing space! It isn’t super private because it is an ottoman between two curtains, but it is nice to get out of the heat and sit down to nurse.

  • Charleston County Libraries

Each library in Charleston County has a dedicated nursing space. If you need help locating them, just ask a staff member!

  • Tanger Outlets

This nursing space is located within the guest services restroom. It isn’t fully private because it is enclosed by a curtain. It does have a rocking chair, a changing station, and an outlet!

  • Topgolf

I love this nursing space! It is located on the second floor and is a fully private room with a chair, fridge, baby changing station, and a sink. No one can access the space without being escorted by a manager, so if you’re there just ask if they can unlock the room!

  • Target

I had to include Target as most Lowcountry locations have a nursing “room” within the dressing room area. It is labeled and has a comfy chair, but keep in mind it might be in use by someone trying on clothes!

Do you have any favorite nursing-friendly spots that I missed on this list? Let me know, and Happy World Breastfeeding Week!
