Park After Dark

The adventure begins with Education Coordinator, Adam Bedard, who will take you on a trip through the Milky Way Galaxy! You will explore subjects within astronomy, such as the moon, solar system, stars, and constellations. You will have the opportunity to become part of the solar system and see how far our solar system stretches! Lastly, you will be able to locate common constellations and the fascinating stories and legends behind them. Then, at 6:30 p.m. the movie “Hidden Figures” will begin. This movie is a story of a team of female African American mathematicians who served a vital role in NASA during the early years of the U.S. space program.

There will be ongoing activities throughout the night. The Lowcountry Stargazers will have telescopes and binoculars available to teach visitors about the stars, constellations, and other astronomy related topics. Food trucks, including Lola’s Lumpia, will be serving food from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and constellation crafts will be available. Chairs or blankets are encouraged for sitting during the “Star Talk” and the movie.
