Welcome to our series: Lowcountry Parks & Playgrounds! Each article in this series focuses more on specific parks/playgrounds at locations throughout the Lowcountry.
Next up, Ashley River Baptist Church Playground in West Ashley!
Looking for a new playground to explore in Charleston? Have you checked out the playground at Ashley River Baptist Church? Tucked away behind the church at 1101 Savannah Highway in West Ashley, this is a hidden gem that’s perfect for playdates with your little ones.
Safety and Simplicity
Unlike some larger parks where supervision feels like a juggling act (I once had to ask another parent to watch one of my children while I sprinted to the other side of the playground to rescue another from a really tall play structure), Ashley River Baptist Church Playground has safe and simple equipment. Additionally, this small playground is fully fenced in, so you can actually breathe while your kids play. Have a little one? The rubberized flooring adds an extra layer of comfort for those tiny toes.
Convenience
- There is a huge parking lot with plenty of parking.
- Equipped with a long built-in bench, this playground has a great deal of seating for parents and kids to take a break from running around to have a snack and some water.
- There’s a porta potty nearby for any urgent bathroom needs.
Ideal for Summer
On hot sunny days, this is one of my go-to playgrounds. It’s the ideal escape from the hot summer heat. In addition to the playground, there’s a small woods perfect for nature hunts. Or if you’re feeling sporty, there are five pickleball courts available for public use.
Next time you’re looking for a safe, shaded, playground, be sure to swing by this one.
