Giving back to our community is so important and we are so excited to present Charleston Moms CARE, a series where we’ll be highlighting different non-profits around the Lowcountry. We’ll tell you more about the organization and how you can get involved!
This month we are featuring Pattison’s Academy whose belief is that every child has the right and ability to reach their maximum potential regardless of the obstacles they face.
Pattison’s Academy
Pattison’s Academy is an education and rehabilitation academy providing comprehensive, year-round programs to support children with disabilities and their families.
The Academy uses therapy and education to help create a unique, individualized, and intensive learning environment for every child who enters their doors. The programs that they provide are intended to maximize the potential of every child, as well as to empower parents as caregivers.
Services Provided:
- Therapy Services — Physical, occupational, and speech therapy are provided to children in the Tri-County area up to 26 years of age. Working closely with PACE Charter School and the Therapeutic Summer Camp is to ensure every child thrives. Outpatient therapy services are also provided to children and families to help increase independence within the home and community settings.
- Charter School — Pattison’s Academy for Comprehensive Education (PACE) is a public charter school whose mission is to improve the quality of life for children with multiple disabilities. The school provides a comprehensive education that integrates educational curricula with functional rehabilitation.
- Early Intervention — Collaborating with developmental specialists and families, Pattison’s helps families navigate the complex maze of services that are out there. The early interventionist monitors the child’s development through developmental assessments, family training sessions, and coordinating and collaborating with the child’s therapists. They also incorporate different activities and strategies to help each child reach developmental milestones.
- Summer Camp — The therapeutic summer camp provides physical, social, and cultural enrichment for individuals aged 3-24. The impact of the camp is to build substantial and demonstrable life skills and social development for the individuals.
