Any runners out there? This one’s for you! I’ve rounded up Charleston’s many summer races and pulled them all into this post. So if you’re crazy enough to keep on running and racing through the soupy summer heat and humidity (I know I am!), here are some events you may want to add to your calendar. Moms’ Run
Saturday, May 13, 8:00 a.m.
Distance: 5K
Come out for a race, plus a day of family fun at the 14th annual Moms’ Run fundraiser for Postpartum Support Charleston. Kids and strollers welcome.

Green & Lean
Saturday, May 13, 8:30 a.m.
Distance: 5K
Start and end in Brittlebank Park and loop around a shaded route in Hampton Park. There’s a silent auction that benefits Keep Charleston Beautiful and a kids race. Strollers and leashed dogs welcome in the race.

11th Annual Hazel Williams Gammons Run for Your Mother 5k

Floppin’ Flounder
Saturday, June 3, 8:30 a.m.
Distance: 5K
Race through the scenic neighborhoods of Sullivan’s Island in this event benefiting the Charleston Running Club and the Sullivan’s Island Fire and Rescue Department.

The Big Run
Wednesday, June 7, 7:00 p.m.
Distance: 5K
This race is held by local Fleet Feet stores and will take place across the nation at the same time. All results will funnel up into the national scores to find out who’s the fastest runner in the country.

Hope for Haiti
Thursday, June 8, 7:00 p.m.
Distance: 5K trail run
This one offers a rare chance to run the normally closed-to-the-public trails at Oakland Plantation.

I’On Club Firecracker 5K

Distance: 5K
Race through the I’On community in Mount Pleasant. There’s a special race on a 1.5 mile modified course for people with permanent physical conditions or disabilities that affect their ability to walk/run.

Isle of Palms Beach Run

Distance: 5K, 10K, Kids Fun Runs
Sun, sand, surf…and a race. This race takes place right on the beach on Isle of Palms and has lots of family-friendly kids race distance options (1 mile, 1/2 mile, and 100 yard).

Race for the ARK

One of the few races in Summerville. Come out and support the ARK, which offers support to Alzheimer’s patients and their families.

This one has a new location and new distances this year! It’s still a trail race, but after seven years in the Francis Marion Forest, it’s relocating to Middleton Place Woodlands.
