What makes Summerville family friendly?
Summerville is such a great family town. Being able to head to downtown Summerville or the Nexton area and having open green spaces for kids is such a great perk. Our libraries are also so great for kids. Nexton Square hosts live music events in the summer, and there’s truly something for everyone in the whole family!
What events does Summerville host?
Every spring the Summerville YMCA puts on the Flowertown Festival. It turns downtown Summerville into one of the largest arts and crafts festivals in the Southeast. It doesn’t hurt that you can take in the gorgeous scenery of Summerville in the spring; it’s called flowertown for a reason! Summerville also hosts an annual sweet tea festival. It’s the birthplace of sweet tea, and the downtown area is transformed into a massive street fair with local artists, food vendors, entertainment, and plenty of sweet tea!
Why would you recommend Summerville for other families?
I would recommend Summerville to other families because my family has truly fallen in love with the area. We can go to the beach, downtown Charleston, or stay in the gorgeous Summerville area and always have something to do. I also love the Nexton community specifically because everyone is from all over, and we’re building a new community together!
What makes your community unique?
The neighbors in Nexton are always doing something fun! We have neighborhood golf cart parades, the annual witches’ walk at Halloween, and so much more. I love meeting my neighbors and doing all these fun activities together.
What are some of your favorite businesses, restaurants or shops in Summerville?
Hands down my favorite restaurant is La Rustica in downtown Summerville! The bread is SO good! I also love BKeDSHoP for donuts in Nexton Square. Swank Desserts is also amazing, and the cutest store in downtown has to be French Mercantile!
