Giving back to our community is so important and we are so excited to present Charleston Moms CARE, a series where we’ll be highlighting different non-profits around the Lowcountry. We’ll tell you more about the organization and how you can get involved by volunteering!
This month we are featuring National Cervical Cancer Coalition (NCCC), which is dedicated to serving women with, or at risk for, cervical cancer and HPV disease.
National Cervical Cancer Coalition
National Cervical Cancer Coalition’s mission is to help women, family members, and caregivers battle the personal issues related to cervical cancer and HPV and to advocate for cervical health in all women by promoting prevention through education about early vaccination and regular screening.
The services provided are:
1. NCCC is a national non-profit but has a local chapter in Goose Creek whose mission is to help educate the local community about HPV and cervical health issues.
2. Providing free materials that help educate about HPV and cervical health, including cervical cancer.
3. Tools for prevention, detection, and screening awareness.
4. Quilt project -Quilts that travel the country and help to place a personal face on the battle against cervical cancer.
5. Extensive outreach during Cervical Health Awareness Month in January.
Ways to get involved
The local chapter for NCCC is in Goose Creek and is always looking for volunteers via Facebook.
Other ways to get involved include:
