Activities to Try Out This Earth Day

  • Make birdseed ornaments.

Do you only break out your cookie cutters during the holiday season? Not anymore! Use them to create different-shaped birdseed ornaments to put outside for your neighborhood bird friends! There are tons of different recipes out there, but my favorite is this one from The Spruce.

  • Make sidewalk paint.

As a former high school biology teacher, I would get my students outside to do something fun to celebrate Earth Day every year! One of my favorite activities was making Earth-friendly sidewalk paint to let my creative kiddos create gorgeous drawings. The best part? Only water, cornstarch, and food coloring are needed! Check out the recipe here.

  • Try out a seed jar.

My little guy loves to get outside to help with our garden, but we really only see what is above the ground. Try out growing seeds in a jar to see those roots starting to develop! If you have a mason jar, paper towels, and seeds you’re good to go. Check it out here!

There is no better way to appreciate our planet than spending time admiring her beauty. If you’re interested, be sure to check out activities around your community! My neighborhood in Nexton is hosting a cleanup activity with prizes for finding the most unique pieces of trash!
